Lett, Lott, etc. DNA site

Hello Lett Researchers.

We have a new resource open to all of us now, the Lett and Lott family DNA project. The goal of our DNA project is to obtain genetic samples from members of all the major Lett and Lott lines. This includes any additional spellings or derivates of these names, including Lute. The objective is to either prove or disprove that connections exist between each ancestor with these last names. For example, we already have a match between two known descendants of Joseph Lett, Sr. who died in Mecklenburg County, Virginia in 1808. Since their 12 DNA markers matched perfectly, we now know the genetic markers for a Mecklenburg Lett. It would be nice to test lines, such as those from North Carolina, against the Mecklenburg line. We would then be able to prove if a connection exists, despite the lack of written records. For example, Mel Lett of Missouri had a perfect match with the Mecklenburg Lett genetic code. Although we cannot connect his family to that group on paper, we now know that a real connection exists.

Please go to the site and let us know what you think.

PS - PLEASE try to either commit to sending in a sample or a donation. We will never get anywhere without your help.
