I am hoping someone may be able to shed some light on my late father. He told me that he was raised in rural Virginia outside of Roanoke, born around 1910, had several brothers and two sisters. According to him, his parents both died when he was in his teens, he was adopted by another family in town and left shortly thereafter, never to return again. The last contact he claims to have had was with a sister in New York city shortly before he left for Europe in WW2. He has severe scars over much of his body which he said he recieved when his plane was shot down somewhere over France. He had never gone into any particular detail regarding his family, I never met a single relative and he carried a grudge until the day he died. If any of this sounds familiar, or you have any information I would greatly appreciate it.
