Have your answers for you about the life of Carl Matteus Lux. He was born Feb. 6, 1852 in Waldorf, Rhein Province, Germany. When he was six days old his motherr Gertrude Kaymer Lux, died. Carl's father Conrad, was a farmer and lived and also died in Germany.
Carl spent 30 years in Germany with his father, 2 sisters and a brother. He served 2 years in the German army. He also worked several years in a Rhein Province brewery.
In 1833 Carl and 2 cousins sailed to USA and landed in Philadephia. He immediately left PA and lived in Kansas for 1 year. He then moved to Sioux County, NE. He settled 17 miles NW of Crawford, Nebraska. He owned the land on Little Cottonwood Creek, section 6, Township 32, Range 53 until he died in March 1934. In 1887 he married Regina Feller, daughter of Frank Feller, who was a Sioux Co. pioneer. Carl and Regina were the first couple to whom a mariage license was granted in Sioux Co. Carl served two term as County Treasure. Together they had 8 daughters and 2 sons.

Do you have information on the Lux family in Ia, I would really appreciate it. I hope this helps. I grew up in Harrison, Ne. I did see that a Lux died in Casper, Wy. If I remember rightly she was killed in auto accident. dja
