Hi! I am trying to research the connection between William Lux and my ancestor, John Gerking. William Lux applied for his marriage license to Elizabeth Davis at the same time/together with John Gerking's application to marry Rachel Rice. Their marriage bond application was filled out together. My family suspects that John and William Lux were close friends and that John Gerking may have sailed with/worked for William Lux or his father. Do you have information on William Lux besides his name? Do you know where he lived and what he did prior to 1800? Where did he live after 1800? John Gerking was in Jefferson County, Kentucky from about 1790 to ca 1820 when he died. Do you know what the "G" in William G Lux stands for? Any information you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
