A few years ago Mr Hatz and Mr. Ensch visited the St. Cloud, Minnesota area and I met both of them at the Stearns County History Museum. Mr. Hatz graciously gave me a copy of his book at that time.

Because I am researching immigration from the Grand Duchy to Central Minnesota, I have often used this book. I have found several names in this book which matched the names and immigration years of people in central Minnesota. However, I also have several names of immigrants which do not appear in this book although they indicated that they came to the USA after 1875. I am wondering why that would happen, as your translation indicates that after 1875 it was a requirement to register. Is there a chance that some records were lost over the years?

Thank you for your understanding of the data in this book.

Gretchen
