lymburners from scotland

My great great grandfather John Lymburner was born in 1824 in Dailly Ayr and I discovered that the family dropped the er from the name in the middle of the 19th century. Most of the Lymburners in Scotland from 1555 lived in and around Ayr Kilmarnock etc. There are hardly any Lymburns and Lymburners left in Scotland. Are most of the Lymburners in USA and Canada from Scotland as it is a most unusual name here now.
