Thanks so much for your response. At one time my grandmother's cousin did the genealogy of the Many family and made the connections, but we do not have the documentation. The story was told to my mother by her grandmother Marie Hortense Many, Mary's daughter. Mary (whose name shows as Marie on the census) had to convert to Catholicism to marry my grandfather. She did not respond when the family contacted her because she said that they had never bothered with her when she was younger.
I have just started to look into my mother's family. After finding most of the Barsalous, I am stuck on the Many and Munro family.
