The story handed down to me by my grandmother stated 2 letters from the name were changed to make it sound different due to some dispute/disagreement with Charles II or 'he' would be hung. Whoever 'he' was? Researching records in the OPRs of Scotland show the name as LYMBURNER in the early 1600s then around 1680-1700 we see LIMEBURNER. After that it's a mixture of the two.
