Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

When my grandfather and some of yours (Ray and Jimmy) Thomas Jesse Lynam joined the military they mis-spelled his name on his records as LYMAN. He has a military marker on which his name is LYMAN amd his wife is next to him and her name is spelled LYNAM. Cousins in this family spell their name LYMAN and others spell it LYNAM. Of cours we think we are right with LYNAM. I have never known why Uncle Else LYMAN spelled his name this way
