Hi there,

I was delighted to find this web page. My husband is also descended from Lynams of Westmeath, Ireland.

Matthew Lynam was born in Kilbeggan, Westmeath, Ireland in 1836. He was a carpenter by trade. He married Elizabeth Finlay who was the oldest of six girls and two boys. Elizabeth was born in Phillipstown, Kings County, now Tulamore on 17 April 1841.

Matthew & Elizabeth were married on 3 July 1857 and migrated to Australia landing at Bowen, Queensland in 1864.
Accompanying their parents were three children James aged 6, Patrick aged 5 and Mary aged 3. A fourth child named Elizabeth, a baby, died on the journey out to Australia.

If you have any information which would help me delve further into the Irish background, I would be delighted and can provide information on the Australian desecendants.

Looking forward to hearing from you

Pam Biddle
