Jim, Depending on which record I choose to use: the 1850 US Census or an extract from the Va. State archives listing his death record found on LDS microfilm, shows his birth to be 1778 or 1775 in Russell Co. Va. The claim that his father was Richard Linam is family tradition that is passed down thru one branch of Jacksons. Other factors supporting this claim are two descendants named Linam Jackson. Also there is a Bible record that says Richard Jackson's father was Richard Linam.
