Lynes-Fitzgarrald families-- Iowa 1850

I am researching my family roots, and I keep coming to a dead-end with my great-grandfather Amos William Lynes 1836-1902, possibly born in NY. He married Elizabeth Catherine Fitzgarrald in Linn Co., Iowa in 1857. I find lots of info about her family back as far as 1734, but the Lynes tree stops with Amos and his brother Ezra (who married Elizabeth's sister, Sarah). There are apparently lots of Lynes' in the midwest at about the same time, but I have not found the connecting link,YET.Any info anyone could offer would be very much appreciated. I wonder if Amos' family might have immigrated here, but from where? and what were his parents' names?.........Thanks ever so much...Willis
