Hello. I have been researching the Lynes/Lyons/Lyens family of SC for many years. My gg-grandfather was Uriah (Euriah) Lynes. He had atleast 3 brothers who went to Georgia in the early to mid 1800's as they were all there in 1860 and all 4 served the Confederacy with only one returning home alive. These brothers were: Sylvester Lyons (survived),Charles T. Lyens (died at Elmira Prison), Thomas E. (died). Uriah also was killed in the war. I believe their father to have been either John Lyons or his brother Samuel, both shown in Barnwell Dist. census in 1840 with Uriah living only a few dwellings distant. Uriah's wife is shown as Elizabeth Smith. Uriah was born 1811. It is said his father committed suicide in his later age due to business problems. It is funny that there are 3 different spellings of the last name among these brothers. Uriah is often found as 'Lyons' and is also found as Euriah W. Lynes and even shown in Appling County, Georgia in 1850 census as William U. C. Lyons. If you have any info on any of these Lynes/Lyons/Lyens please share it with me. You may e-mail me at: firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you, Sam Lyons
