Lynn-Mitchel Elliott County KY, Washington County VA

James Lynn married Betsey Mitchell 5 Oct 1819 in Washington County, VA, John Jones Jr minister

Ancestry World trees includes a number of entries for a couple by this name, with a daughter Elizabeth Ackin Lynn b: 17 AUG 1829 in Isonville, Elliott County, Kentucky.

The DOB of this child is consistent with the DOM for the couple given above. Per several of the Ancestry listings, the daughter Elizabeth Lynn married Isaac Shelby Frayly (his third marriage), son of Isaac Scott Frayley, born 1778 in Scot County VA. None of the entries on Ancestry that I saw show the history of the Elliott County couple prior to the birth of Elizabeth.

"Frayley" is not a common name. It might be that Isaac is descended from Frederick Frayley, an early settler in the Castles Woods area of Southwestern Virginia. From this it seems plausible that the couple in Elliott County KY is in fact the same couple as were married in Wasington County in 1819.

James Lynn is a possible kinsman to the the Houston's of the Mill Creek Hundred (New Castle County Delaware) Houston's lineage. He may be related to Ann Houston who married John Walker III of the Wigton Walker lineage. Three of Ann's sisters married members of the Lynn family. I'd like to correspond with anyone researching the Lynn-Mitchell couple in Elliot County KY.
