Tammy,
Here is some additional information on John and Elizabeth.
1. John Lynn was a volunteer in a company of riflemen in the Fifth Battalion of Pennsylvania Militia from October 2, 1812-April 2, 1813. He served under Captain Nicholas Beckwith, who was under Major D. Nelson, under Brigadier General Richard Crooke under General William Henry Harrison. He was paid $20 for his service. His father (James P. Lynn?) also served, but died during the war without seeing his youngest son. I got the military info from a history of Bedford, Summit and Fulton Counties at the Western Pa. Historical Society. The part about the father was from notes that may have come from Carol Teter Wade of Bedford, Iowa (your relative?).
2. John Lynn, Jr. came to Jefferson County, IA alone in about 1842. He took over a homestead, had to wait a few years to get legal control of the land, then went back for the other Lynns. An obituary for my g-grandfather, John Elliot Lynn (nephew of John Lynn, Jr.) says he moved with his family to Iowa when he was six weeks old (around October 1844). John Lynn, Sr. filed homestead papers in Jefferson Country one month before his death on December 28, 1850.
3. John and Elizabeth had 9 children according to the records I have: David Lynn (Linn), John Junior, Mary Ann (married John Teter), Elizabeth (married John Boldosier), Robert (married Christina Fasnact -- these
were my g-great grandparents), Margaret (married George Hoak), Sarah (married Elijah Edwards), Adam (married Elizabeth Allender) and Noah (married Elizabeth Bandah). John Sr., Elizabeth, David, John Jr., Robert and Noah all died in Iowa.
3. The Lynns went to Keokuk, Iowa by boat -- perhaps embarking at Pittsburgh.
