Mike, the marriage certificate might list additional names. I have also found out many marriage dates are actually the licensing date in Johnson Co, and the real marriage date is located in the 2nd paragraph of the certificate.
Were there still marriage bonds in the late 1890's.
I'd look also where his wife's family farm was and examine a tract map of the farms next to hers -- that might indicate who Alonzo's parents are. (Cheryl might be able to help you there.)
