This is from ma-vitalrecords.org. On the first page click on "Town" then find Salem under ESSEX - then you can search the Brown/Browne and Gray/Graye/Grey surnames. The year that this Betsey and John married and the year you indicated for their son Johns birth do not coincide. Also some records list 'Betsey' and others Elizabeth so they may or may not be the same Mrs. Gray.

Also on the first page of Salem records - above SURNAMES it lists "abbreviations" - click on that to see what each means - for example - PR68 = Bible record of Gray family furnished by Benjamin A. Gray in the Wheatland papers now in possession of Essex Institute - THIS MAY REALLY HELP if you could contact them!!!! and CR4= East Church
