Hello, I am seeking specifics of S0040 Joseph Sheldon, Esq. Rep to the Mass General Court who died July 2, 1708 in Boston. He was a Deputy to the Mass. General Court from Suffield, Mass in 1703 and 1705 and 1708. Also a Selectman of Suffield in 1700 and 1703. As a Rep of the Court, I am curious if he received a public funeral, and where he is buried? Confusing this search is the fact that Suffield, Mass became CT and was due to a surveying error in 1642, the Suffield region was thought to be included in the Massachusetts colony. In 1670 Major John Pynchon, a fur merchant from Springfield, paid the Indians thirty pounds for a six-mile tract of land known as Stony Brooke Plantation. After settling border disputes with neighboring towns, Suffield, which had been part of Massachusetts for 79 years, was granted admittance to Connecticut in 1749. Argh! Any thoughts or suggestions are most Welcome! Cheers, Rich Notify Administrator about this message?
