My great grandfather, George Maas, was born in 1864, of Polish-German decent. He fled Germany to Poland to avoid the army, and then fled Poland to America to avoid persecution from a crime he committed. He changed his name to Blaze Knapp/Knap and always said his parents names were Mike and Barbara Knap. He named brothers and sisters as Jan, Michal, Francisska, and Maryanne.
