Hello again Suzanne,
Its a tantalizing thought that they might be related as father and son. A look at a map of Germany shows the town of Itzehoe and Teterow to be approx 175 km (abt. 110 miles) apart. In those days of horse and buggy transport, its not an impossibility that my guy might have originated in Teterow and headed west toward Hamburg, and then his daughter got hooked up with her husband at Itzehoe or some nearby locale before they all jumped aboard a ship for America.
But, your mention of several other Christian Maas/Maass in Teterow makes us realize that it is easy to take a wrong path because of the desire to succeed in finding connections. Wish I had more info to link these folks! Thanks for your help just the same- its not certain either way at this point.
Bob Brown
