Anyone connected to Sophrona Mabe? Also known as Frona and sometimes going by Reuben?
My Great Grandfathers Marriage certificate shows his Mother as Reuben Mabe and Father as John Mabe. We know the Father is not correct on this marriage certificate. And why did he show his Mother as Reuben? Allot of questions and not to many answers.
Sophrona was married twice that I know of.
John J. Minor & Sephrona Mabe, bond issued 18 Feb 1882, bondsman: Frank Mabe.

Return: Marriage took place the same day (18 Feb 1882) by J. C. Brown.

County Court Clerk Marriages Vol A:
Pg. 15 Marriage No. 143
18 Feb 1882
John J. Minor, W(hite), age 18, b. Hancock Co. res. Hawkins Co., Occ. Farmer
TO
Sephrona Mabe, age 22, b. Hawkins Co. res. Hawkins Co.
Married by J. C. Brown, MG
Witness:
Hasena Stapleton, Hawkins Co.
Magg. Stapleton (no Co. of res. shown)
Recorded: 29 Oct 1882
2nd Marriage was to Gaines Lawson.

Sophrona had 3 children before the marriage to Gaines Lawson one of which was my Great Grandfather. (William Riley Mabe)
It turns out that my Great Grandfather was not a MABE or MINOR, Through DNA testing the results come back with several perfect matches to BERRY.
Sophrona Mabe is his Mother but as far as his Father goes we think it may have been a Thomas J. Berry. (Justice of the Peace)?
There are 2 Thomas J. Berry's in Hawkins County, TN. At this time.
Other siblings to my Great Grandfather were Silas and Maggie.
Any Connection?
I would like to share info for whatever anyone might have to share.
You can check the DNA results for Berry at the following link.

Thanks!
