The Gettysburg National Military Park Wall of Faces reports that it has a photo of Pvt. George W. Mabee, who was killed at Culp's Hill on July 2, 1863: "Left a widow, three young daughters, and a 13 year old son." The information provided by Renee allows an explanation, based on the liklihood that George Mabee was married twice and had two families. His first wife would have been Margaret (Smith) Mabee, died 1857, with one son named Charles C. Mabee, born 1850. I have no information about the daughters mentioned above. Sometime around 1860, he married Sarah Briggs and fathered two sons [Judd, age around 2] and George H. [an infant]by the time he died in battle. George H. was my husband's great-grandfather. Thus the widow and the four children mentioned with the photo would not be from the same family. If anyone from the earlier lineage reads this, would you be willing to provide us with a copy of that photo? Thanks to Renee for filling in the gaps.
