Trying to find out more about my ancestor Thomas Maban, Master Mariner who was born around 1785/90 in Kircudbrighshire.
He married Agnes Grierson 1810 in Girthon.
He died around 1841 having - it is said- been murdered as he came of ship, reputedly two Irish men were hanged for killing him.
I can't find any record of this.
Any help appreciated
