Hi Chris,
I'm not sure, actually (But I agree the names are rather marvellous!)
I'm doing the genealogy for my husband's family, and Fanny Maber is his great grandmother. I know that she was born in Portsea and that she had a sister called Lilian Louisa. (This info is from the 1891 census, as Fanny married Richard Wills and lived on the Isle of Portland).
Since I requested the help, I've been speculating over an entry on the 1881 census for a family of Mabers who were living in Weymouth -
William Maber Head M 42, Poole, Dorset. Shipwright.
Louisa Maber Wife M 44, Southampton, Hampshire.
William Maber Son U 19, Portsmouth, Hampshire. Shipwright.
James Maber Son U 18, Ireland. Shipwright.
The area is good for me as is the wife's name being Louisa :O) Any port in a storm (so to speak). Maybe William is a brother/cousin to your ancestors?
I vaguely remember seeing a website dedicated to a family of Mabers, where one of them went on a great seafaring adventure. I'm going to have to track it down again whilst I'm thinking about it. Maybe there will be information that will start to make sense of it all.. :O)
