Canadian MABERLEY and MABBERLEY

I notice in the Canadian phone listings - http://canada411.sympatico.ca/eng/person.html - that there are 9 MABERLEY spellings and 12 MABBERLEY ones out of 32 million people in the country.

Curiously, all but one of the MABBERLEY folks live in British Columbia in the far west, while the MABERLEY spellings are mainly in Alberta (prairie province next to BC) or in Nova Scotia on the Atlantic coast. Strange !

Does anyone know how these (lonely) few got to Canada in the first place - right from the 'old country' or perhaps north from the American colonies before or after the Revolution ??
