My mother is Virginia Mabes King, daughter of Cora Lilly and Everett Mabes. She was born in 1928. About twenty years ago she did extensive research on the Mabe/Mabes family tree and might be able to help you fill in some gaps. I warn you, she's not as sharp as she once was, but you may want to give her a try. She's in Eden, NC. Let me know and I'll e-mail you her phone number and mailing address.
