Mabry Family Genealogy Forum

Sure glad I decided to check out the MABE family. I have a Maby S. Davis, s/o John & Mary Davis, b.c1822, Champaign co., OH. There are many Mabe individuals on the internet but no Forum for the name. Chances are the name was changed to Marby. Look it up and you'll find over 2000 Mabes expanded by the inabliity of many to recognize the spelling of MAYBE, the adv. meanding PERHAPS.
But to the question: John DAvis was son of Abel Davis [c1765-1847]. In searching for his father I ran into Abel Davis of Newl Castle Co., DE who d. testate in 1790. He wa from Bucks Co., PA and in 1755 purchased land in NC Co., DE. He m. Sarah and had several children. Both were baptized as members of the Welsh Neck Baptist society. I don't know if my sights are on the bulls eye but just maybe the MABE tribe changed the spelling of the surname, as did many. Any thoughts?
