In Brunswick County Virginia Deed Book 9, page 139, William Smith made a deed of gift in 1768 to Joel Mabry who "had intermarried with my daughter Winnifred".

I am a descendant of Hannah Mabry Hill Brown, the daughter of Hinchia Mabry Jr. of Brunswick County. Joel Mabry was the guardian to Hannah and her brothers Evans, Hinchey and Seth. In the Orphans Book, Joel reported the income and expense of the estate and keeping the children and he was allowed 35 pounds for his "trouble & expense for 7 years".
