Dear Carol and other MacAskills, I read with interest this long family tree and I'm trying to figure out where my mother's family fits in. Also, I'm on my way up to Cape Breton to visit the giant's museum & gravesite. I grew up with stories of the Scottish giant. Somewhere in my mother's house there's a MacAskill family history that I'll try to put my hands on. Meanwhile: my mother was Eloise MacAskill Minton of Boise, Idaho, born 1917 in Atlanta, Idaho. She died in Boise, Idaho in 1986. She was the daughter of Neil MacAskill and Zoa Hussey. Zoa Hussey was born 1898, probably at Star, Idaho. Zoa and Neil were RH factor and although Zoa had 12 pregnancies, many of the babies were stillborn or lived only a short time. Eloise was the last child born and the only one to live to adulthood. Neil MacAskill was a silver miner in Atlanta, Idaho with his brother Angus who was named for the giant. Neil died of leukemia in San Diego, California, in about 1926. I am Patricia Eloise Minton of San Diego, adopted daughter of Eloise MacAskill and Donald Minton of Boise, Idaho. It was always expressed to me that the giant Angus was "great-grandfather's cousin". And although I'm adopted into the MacAskill clan, I do happen to be 5 feet 10. Notify Administrator about this message?
