I have been researching the MacAskill side of my heritage and have seen many postings regarding Neil MacAskill b. 1848 married to Sarah Cameron. Neil would be my great grandfather. His son Daniel MacAskill is my grandfather. My research shows Neil's parents as Donald MacAskill b. abt 1805 Gairloch, Ross and Cromarty, Scotland married to Annie R. Watson b. 1815 Victoria, Little Narrows, Cape Breton, NS.
My grandfather Daniel had nine children with Annie Mae Degaust, five of whom are still surviving, Annie died giving birth abt. 1939. Daniel remarried later in life to Getrude, can't remember her last name. He lived in Glace Bay until his death. I know he worked for the railroad but I'm not sure if it was S&L or CNR. His son Joseph worked for CNR.
