Thanks for the reply. I'll have to go back to the 1871 census and cast my net a bit wider I guess.

My great aunt Sadie (Sarah) used to tell my sisters and me that we had a family connection the Cape Breton Giant, Angus MacAskill. My grandmother Mary seemed to agree, but neither of them could give any solid info to support the claim.

From what you say, it seems that the link goes back to Scotland. I had been looking for a link to the St Ann's Bay/Englishtown MacAskills from Canadian records, but I guess I'll need to go further back.

If anyone has a link to an Angus MacAskill genealogy, I'd sure like to have it. My Google searches haven't turned one up.
