I know your question is very old, but George Manson Macaskill was my wife's grandfather.
He emigrated from Caithness in 1924/5 to Australia at the age of 19. He worked as an agricultural labourer in rural Victoria and had 5 children. He died in 1952.
His mother was Johan Macaskill, daughter of John who had moved from Shulishader, Isle of Lewis. According to my research John was a Gardener. George Manson Macaskill was illegitimate and his father was probably one of the Mansons in Halkirk. Unfortunately there were many and I've not been successful in determining who was the father. Johan never married and died in 1946 in Halkirk.
