My great great grandfather John Macaskill came from Berneray Outer Hebrides. He had an illegitimate son, also John Macaskill, in 1857 to one Jane Maclean who married a Macleod from Harris in 1862. I do not know what became of my great great grandfather but I was always told that we are related to giant Macaskill. Berneray is a tiny wee island so this is probably true. Do you have any info on John Macaskill? I can only guess at his date of birth if he fathered a child in 1857. The son John Macaskill had a son by the name of Norman who died youg at age 23.I would be pleased to hear from you.
