I am also researching McAskills from the Dunvegan area. While on a trip to Scotland last month I discovered this surname when looking at marriage and death records in Portree. I have an Effy (Euphemia) MacRae whose parents were Donald and Catherine MacRae, nee MacCaskill. Effy was born ca. 1802 at Bracadale and died on Mar. 5, 1877 at Kinsale, Roag (also in the Parish of Duirinish). I have no other information on her mother but we can estimate that she was born around 1780 and was probably from the area as there were more than a few McCaskills there at the time, including the ancestors of the famous "Giant MacAskill." Hopefully in the near future we'll have some more information to share! (I also had Fergusons in the Dunvegan area at the same time.)
