Patrick -- I wrote Karen. Hate to bring NYC element in but my grandfather John McAssey, born in Carlow May 16, 1868, came to NY in late 1880's. Married Johanna Blake of Clare & had William, Thomas,James, Daniel, Edward Vincent (my Dad) & Agnes. My brother Edward is Prof at Villanova with 2 sons - Edward III & James Michael. Uncle Dan had 2 sons - John of CT & James Joseph in Schnectady. Jim has at least 1 son. We thought we were it. I spoke with Karen & if her grandmother was youngest of 13/17 - could my Grandfather be oldest - 30 years?
