Colin Rae m. Margaret Stuart (d. 1827), dau of John Stuart, son of Sir William Stuart of Castlemilk and Margaret Crawfurd, dau of John Crawfurd of Milton. Margaret's sister, Jean, was married to William Stirling of Keir.

1. Alexander Houston m. dau of Colin Rae of Little Govan.
Alexander was the founder of the famous West India House of Alexander Houston & Co. and also one of the six founders of the Old Ship Bank, otherwise known as Dunlop, Houston, and Co. Another one of the six partners was William MacDowall who was father of William MacDowall, Jr.m Lord Lt. and M.P. for Renfrewshire and Provost James MacDowall. The children of Alexander and Miss Rae were

In 1795 the House of Houston failed and the Raes and Houstons were financially wiped out. The Dixons acquired the lands of Little Govan and made their fortune from coal, iron and glass.

Raes of Tannochside (now St. Enochs) moved to Little Govan. Robert Rae m. Elizabeth Dunlop of Garnkirk, his cousin, and was great-grandfather Robert Houston Rae of Little Govan. Robert Houston Rae was married to Isabella Douglas who was somehow related to Alexander Douglas, merchant of London.
