Speaking of uterine brothers, what do you make of the relationship offered here between George M'Aulay and Archibald M'Aulay, Lord Provost of Edinburgh as brothers?

"George M’Aulay, Esq., student of medicine, B and G., by rt. of fr. Rt. Hon. Arch’d M’A, Esq., Lord Provost, B. and G., gratis, for good services, by act of Counsel of 19 July inst. 26 Jul 1738"
