Info from Alex:
1851 census William McAulay and his wife Margaret Houston. William, aged 61, b. Bonhill; merchant and calico printer. Staying with them at 3 Shawfield Bank were Margaret V. Houston, niece, aged 24, b. Grenada and William Houston, nephew, aged 22, merchant, also b. Grenada.
At 4 Shawfield was William McAulay's brother, Peter, aged 56; calico printer married to Mary Crawford. Staying with them was Agnes Stirling, aged 19, niece. She was b. Stirling.
William and Margaret were b. in 1812. Her father was Andrew Houston of Jordan Hill and her mother, Agnes Craig.
I have not been able to find this marriage yet while doing my Houston research as this Andrew may have been married several times.
From the London Times I found the following:
1936 will of William McAulay Houstoun probated. He was of Alfold, Surrey and Calcutta. Estate valued at 145,000 pounds.
1941-Mary Houstoun, dau of the late William McAulay Houstoun of Adderbury House, Oxfordshire, to marry Capt. Reginald Henry Somerset Miles Kent, son of H. Kent of Paris.
