Our John Macauley left Maghrehar, Ireland in 1849 to settle in Bloomfield, Ohio. His eldest son James Alexander Macauley became the Treasurer of West Virginia in 1869. He had a brother, John Jr., who was killed in the Civil War at 15. We have no other history of this eldest John and don't know whether he ended up in West Virginia or not. His son James Alexander had a son, John Blair, who married Mary Young Happer. This John attended Johns Hopkins and became a patent attorney. We don't know how long the stayed in West Virginia.
