My wife's ggggrandfather John Macauley left Enniskillen, County Maghrehar, Ireland for Scotland in the early 1840s and left Scotland in 1849 to settle in Bloomfield, Ohio. His eldest son James Alexander Macauley became the Treasurer of West Virginia
in 1869.
It is hard to believe that these families aren't connected, but this is all the information I have.
