It's great to see research being done on this line! I have run into a bit of a stumbling block with this line, as my gr gr grandfather (James McCausland) ran off with another woman in 1877, and his father-in-law changed the spelling (to what it is now), and got rid of all reference to that family. I am very interested in tracing this back. I know I am not from the line that has been in the US since the 1790's, as my line is through Canada, and we have only been here (the US) since 1902.
Any information is greatly appreciated! If I find any of interest, I will be sure to pass it on.
