The following letter was written when Annie was 28 years old. Ellen, Jennie (Janet) Dean and the Clinks she speaks of are her sisters. Johnnie is her brother.

Brown City
Dec 12, 1889

Friend Phillip,
You must excuse me for writing to you. But as I was somewhat lonesome thought I would write to you.
We got a letter from Ellen yesterday. She is having a fine time and likes the place splendid. She is coming home for Christmas. Mrs. Delaney is coming with her and will stay a week.
Did you see Jennie Dean? She was up to the Henn's last week visiting. I think she is down to Clink's this week. However she wants to see you. She will be here a week from Sunday.
You had better come down. Henn's was down last Sunday with Otto.
Johnnie Reagan is going to leave our Brown going to Colorado this month. This is his last week in Brown City. Edna McIntosh made a party for him last Friday night. John Honse said it was a select party and I thought it was when he told who was there.
Brown City is going to have a party this week for Johnnie, his farewell.

(The next few lines are unreadable)

She will do any kind of work so that is the kind you are looking for. I could tell you the particulars of (unreadable) you. You know from an observation view of anything you can't do justice. Is Ellen knows she was down here this fall but I was not at home. I was sorry I wasn't at home when you were here. I came home on Tuesday. This will remind you of Cerena.

From That - Annie O'Brian

Notes for JOHN HENN:
DEATH REMOVES GRAND OLD MAN - John Henn dead at his home in Burnside Township, Tuesday, December 16.
John Henn, age 77 years, died at his farm home in Burnside Township, Lapeer County, Tuesday morning inst., after an illness of more than two years from an affection of the heart. He had been closely confined to the house for two years and was a great sufferer, especially in the last stages of his malady, and he welcomed the end that he might be at rest from his physical memory. Mr. Henn had been a resident of Burnside for nearly 50 years, and his death removes one of the most substantial and esteemed citizens of that community; a faithful friend and splendid neighbor. He served as a member of the Board of Supervisors for 10 years and consequently had a wide acquaintance throughout Lapeer County. Besides his widow, he is survived by two sons and three daughters. The funeral was held Friday morning from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Burnside Township of which he had been an influential member for many years. The services were conducted by the Rev. Leo Gaffney, pastor, and interment was made at St. Mary's Cemetery. John Henn was born February 12, 1842, in Germany, and came with his parents to America when quite young and they settled on a farm in the State of New York. When the Civil War broke out and Abraham Lincoln made his call for three hundred thousand men, he volunteered and was assigned to the 3rd New York Light Artillery. He served his Country well and was honorably discharged in July, 1865. He came to Michigan in 1868, engaged in the preparation and shipment of material East for the manufacture of barrels, and in 1871 he settled in Burnside Township where he continued in the business for some time. In 1873 he was married to Miss Elizabeth O'Brien, daughter of the late James O'Brien, of Maple Valley, Sinilac County. They settled on a farm in Burnside Township, where 5 children were born to them -- three sons and two daughters: Otto Henn, Owen Henn and Floyd Henn, Mrs. Anthony Esper and Mrs. Ambrose Kreiner. Mr. Henn succeeded as a farmer and eventually purchased several farms, upon which his sons and daughters are now located all in the vicinity of Burnside. He took considerable interest in politics, being a staunch Republican, and served his township two years as Treasurer and 10 years of Supervisor, always giving a good account of his stewardship. Honest, obliging and loyal to his home folk and the country of his adoption. It maybe truthfully said of him that a grand old man has gone to his eternal reward.
