I was told by my father that the Campbells were distant cousins who sold out( betrayed the family) to the English, and who sold MacDermid land which did not belong to them to "curry favor with the (bleeping) English." Campbell was not a revered name in my family. I was instructed to listen to the tune-- "The Campbells Are Coming."

You are a relative, perhaps? My Gr father was fr Islay.I am looking for persons who are related to William MacDermid, who immigrated to the U.S. in the mid 1800s. I do not have details as to how, or exactly when he arrived.
