Dianne: Your information is interesting. My grandmother was Isabella McDairmid born 1859/60 in Inverness and married my grandfather (William Henderson) in Ontario. Her parents were Angus McDairmid and Annabell Nicholson. I have a letter written to her in 1925 by her brother, John, Detroit, Michigan.
I am sure he is not the John you wrote about. However, the bigamy story is intriguing. I have never heard it before.I do know some of my relatives in Ontario and have visited a few grave yards. Do you know the names of the grave yards you visited there? It is quite a coincidence that you accidently ran into some of the McDairmids there. Could you tell whom you met? We have a limited family tree on the McDairmids. I am also past middle age and it is very difficult to find much information but I keep trying. A sister of my grandmother married a Ben Davis and they became American citizens and operated a business in Chicago for years. I have been desperately trying to find someone from their family in Chicago but so far no luck. All the posted information on the McDairmids is very interesting to me. Enough for now. Geraldine
