My ggggrandfather John MacDermid immigrated to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia from Harris Scotland in somewhere around 1841. I have more information on this but unfortunatley I have just moved and cannot get my handss on it right now but hopefully in the next few days I will come across it and if you are interested I can give it to you then. What I do know is the following:

John settled in Wreck Cove, a very small community in Cape Breton, and married Mary Morrsion. They had a son Kenneth MacDermid ( my gggrandfather) who married Annie Morrison. They then had a son Alexander( my ggrandfather) who married Christi Anne MacLeod. Then came my grandfather Edward who married Katherine Morrison (the MacDermids & Morrisons have a long tradition of marriage)and then my father Allison who was the first MacDermid on our side that we know of to not marry a Scot. There are other children along the way but I don't have the details right now.

I am extremely interested in hearing from you as this is the first time I've located someone who is descended from the same famlily as I am.
