Both Sameul and Francis Mackay were Lieutenants in the Royal American Regiment. I'm particularly intrigued to learn that they were born on the Continent. Both men came with James Prevost, later James Prevost-Mackay, into the British service in 1755. I have a lots of letters from these men and would be glad to exchange information. If it is of interest, after they resigned their commissions they tried to acquire land around Fort Chambly, Quebec.
