Interested in your reference to MacKay of Scourie. Is your Hugh MacKay who died in 1775 the grandson of the famous Lt General Hugh MacKay of Scourie who died at the Battle of Steinkirk 24.07.1692. If so what is the evidence of his elevation to the peerage. You will have seen the portrait of the original Hugh in the Book of MacKay ?
