Hello Weston - Hope all is well. A little more information about Elizabeth Mackay. She and her sister Sarah were the "natural" (illegitimate) daughters of Donald Mackay and were acknowledged as such and provided for in his will. In the will he named their mother as Elizabeth Manley, daughter of Henry Manley and then wife of James Lemon, an Indian trader on the Great Satilla River. Elizabeth amd Sarah were raised by James & Elizabeth Lemon. Elizabeth married John Tompkins and had four sons. She later married William Johnston in Camden Co. and had one daughter, Mary who died at age 5. William Johnston was very interested in the land that Elizabeth had inherited from John Tompkins and less interested in Elizabeth.
In the group of settlers from Durness, James and Barbara Mackay were listed with 4 children. However, I have only been able to identify 3. Jeanne (or Jane) later married William Macintosh; I do not know what happened to Barbara. I have lots of information on Donald - quite and interesting life. Can find no information that he ever married; he mentioned no wife or other children in his will; left other estate to his mother Barbara (still alive in 1768).
