I have a John MacKay in my family that was a Doctor in Edinburgh. I don't know much about him though. His nephew John came to Canada in the 1830's to West Zorra. I only know that John MacKay had asked his nephew to go to Edinburgh to study medicine but he decided not to. His nephew was named after him.
