Thank you for your post on the 2nd Sutherland Fencibles. I wonder if you can tell me where I might find the enlistment roll of the regiment.

The information I have on my ancestor is that William Mackay, Soldier in Sutherland Fencibles married Jannet McCallum on October 21st 1782 in the parish of Abbotshall, Fife.

The first recorded child (that I have found) that William and Jannet had was called William and was born in Edinburgh. I have found further children John b1796, DAVID b1801 (my ancestor) and Alexander b1803.

These births exclude my William Mackay from service in 3rd Sutherland Fencibles. He is listed as a 'cardmaker' on Leith walk upon David's birth.

Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to help.
